Dr Gordillo has worked extensively in both Australia and overseas. Dr. Gordillo graduated from the University of Sydney in 1994 and gained his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1998. He is an examiner for the RACGP.

Since moving to Cairns in 2005 he has become increasingly involved in skin cancer medicine, obtaining his Certificate of Advanced Skin Cancer Surgery, Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine, Advanced Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine & Surgery and Diploma of Dermoscopy (SCCA).

Dr. Gordillo is a member of the Skin Cancer College Australasia. Dr Gordillo being presented his Fellowship by Dr Peter Bourne the President of the SCCA in May 2017 at the annual Skin Cancer Conference at the Gold Coast.  Dr Gordillo has gained his Fellowship of the Skin Cancer College Australasia . The Skin Cancer College Australasia is a peak body representing skin cancer practitioners in Australia and New Zealand.  The Fellowship is a significant achievement requiring a strong commitment to further study, assessment and skin cancer clinical practice over a long period of time.
