Tattoo removal in Cairns

Tattoos have been part of human culture for thousands of years, the oldest being found on a Bronze-Age mummy that was over 5,500 years old. And that’s about how long people have been trying to remove them too.

Many people love their tattoos when they first get them, but times and circumstances change. Tattoo removal, however, has always been hard to change until now. Our Cairns tattoo removal clinic has specially designed lasers that target the ink in the tattoo – causing it to break into very small particles that are removed by the body leaving the surrounding skin intact.

Outcomes & Expectations

With the Medlite© laser treatment, all types of tattoo, ranging from amateur to professional, can be treated. The number of treatments needed depends on a number of factors including how much ink was used, what colours were used, the location of the tattoo and your skin colour.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments does it take?

Generally, amateur tattoos need anywhere from 1 to 5 treatments and professional tattoos need 6 to 12 sessions. Treatment sessions are usually performed 6-8 weeks apart.

 Does it hurt?

Most people describe the sensation like the snap of a rubber band on the skin. While most people don’t need any anaesthetic, a numbing cream can be applied depending on the size and location of the tattoo.

 Will the tattoo disappear completely?

In many cases, that tattoo will completely disappear. Some colours are more difficult to remove than others, though.

  • Black, blue and red ink respond the best.
  • Orange and purple usually fade well.
  • Green and yellow are the hardest and may need additional treatments to get significant fading.
